Brief Description: Olive Branch Baptist Church is a 108-year-old church with a rich past, a vibrant present, and a bright future in the Southeastern District. OBBC is a full-service church that has approximately 15 ministries that are reaching the lost and teaching the saved. We are an innovative church that has adapted to the changing times and technology needs to reach all members. Currently, the church is seeking a pastor after the retirement of a long-term Senior Pastor, Dr. Burnis Burrell, Jr. Since 1978, the church has only had one pastor and that continuity has created healthy ministries and a diverse congregation looking out for the spiritual and physical well-being of our church family and the community. Seeking: We are prayerfully seeking a visionary leader with exceptional communication skills, strong Biblical teaching and a heart for people!
Qualifications:
• Be a licensed and ordained minister in the Baptist faith
• Can lead, teach and provide pastoral care to a diverse congregation
• Relevant pastoral experience (Three (3) years preferred)
• Effective leadership and communication skills
• Passion for ministry and serving the community
Responsibilities:
• Preaching, Mid-Week Bible Study Teaching & Worship Leadership: Preparing and delivering biblically grounded and Spirit-filled sermons on Sundays and during special services.
• Pastoral Care & Shepherding: Keeping up with the membership and providing counseling (grief, premarital) to church members.
• Administration & Supervision: Supervising staff and working with deacons and trustees to manage church business.
• Ordinances & Ceremonies: Conducting weddings, funerals, baptisms, and the Lord’s Supper (Communion).
• Vision & Strategic Planning: Developing and executing a vision for church growth and community outreach in partnership with ministry leaders.
• Community Engagement: Representing the church in local community meetings, District, State and National Baptist Conventions.
